KINGMAX low viscosity HPMC is a specially tailored hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose for high-flow cement grout, injection grout and pumpable cementitious slurry. Unlike high viscosity HPMC that brings strong thickening and anti-sag performance for putty and tile adhesive, this low-viscosity grade is engineered to avoid excessive thickening while delivering critical slurry stabilization. Cement grout requires free-flowing property to penetrate narrow gaps, voids and rock crevices, and it must be smoothly pumped through pipelines without blockage. KINGMAX low viscosity HPMC balances rheology control, suspension stability and moderate water retention, making it an essential additive for pre-mixed cement grout formulas.
This grout-grade HPMC features fast cold-water dispersion, stable batch viscosity, low ash content and great compatibility with cement, superplasticizer, RDP, MCC and other grout additives. It will not sharply raise slurry viscosity, so the grout maintains good fluidity for pumping and gap filling.
Core Advantages of KINGMAX Low Viscosity HPMC for Cement Grout
First, retain outstanding flowability and pumpability. It only provides mild thickening effect, so the grout keeps low flow resistance during pumping. It reduces friction inside delivery hoses and pumps, supporting continuous, stable pumping construction and lowering the risk of pipe clogging. It is suitable for long-distance pumping and machine grouting projects.
Second, effectively stop bleeding, stratification and aggregate settlement. Pure cement grout easily separates: water floats on the top while sand and cement sink to the bottom, which causes uneven strength and poor filling compactness. KINGMAX low viscosity HPMC forms a weak three-dimensional network inside the slurry to suspend solid particles uniformly, keeping the grout homogeneous from injection to setting. No water bleeding or sedimentation occurs during standing and pumping.
Third, moderate water retention avoids premature water loss. It slows rapid water evaporation and water absorption by porous substrates, ensuring sufficient cement hydration. It reduces dry shrinkage, micro-cracks and powdering after curing, helping grout develop designed compressive strength and bonding strength. It also moderately extends workable time for large-scale grouting construction.
Fourth, stable rheology under alkaline cement environment. It shows good alkali resistance and will not degrade quickly in cement slurry. The flow performance stays consistent within the required construction window. It works well with polycarboxylate superplasticizer together, without weakening the water-reducing and fluidizing effect of superplasticizer.
Typical Application Scenarios
- Structural cement grout, foundation reinforcement grout
- Bolt grouting, rock and soil injection grout
- Void-filling grout for concrete defects
- Pumpable cement repair grout for concrete structure
- Pre-mixed high-flow grout for equipment base anchoring
- Non-shrinkage grout and cementitious joint grout
Recommended Dosage
The typical dosage of KINGMAX low viscosity HPMC in cement grout is 0.05% – 0.20% of total dry powder weight. For common flowable injection grout, 0.08%–0.15% is widely used. If stronger anti-bleeding and suspension stability is required, dosage can go up to 0.15%–0.20%. Overdosage will increase slurry viscosity and hurt flow and pumping performance. Formulators need to test fluidity, bleeding rate, setting time and compressive strength together with superplasticizer.
Formulation Matching Guidance
For premium non-shrink cement grout, formulators often combine low viscosity HPMC with RDP and MCC. RDP improves flexibility and bonding strength; MCC further optimizes particle packing and reduces shrinkage. Polycarboxylate superplasticizer is normally added to boost initial flow. This combination achieves stable pumping, low bleeding, low shrinkage and high final strength.
