Hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) is a white or pale yellow, tasteless, non-toxic fibrous or powdered solid, prepared by alkaline cellulose and ethylene oxide (or chloroethanol) by etherification, belongs to non-ionic soluble cellulose ethers.
